GTA 6 Map vs GTA 5 — What's Confirmed, What's Estimated
Quick answer
GTA 6’s Leonida is a new state — not a bigger Los Santos. Trailer-derived estimates put it around twice GTA 5’s area (ESTIMATE, unconfirmed). What’s confirmed: a coastal city, the Leonida Keys, wetlands, and northern hills. Measured comparison lands at launch.
GTA 5 gave us San Andreas: Los Santos plus the Blaine County desert and mountains. GTA 6 moves to Leonida — a different state with a Miami-inspired coastal city, the Leonida Keys island chain, gator wetlands, and northern hills. New geography, not an expansion.
On size: nothing official exists. Serious trailer-frame analysis clusters around roughly 2× GTA 5’s area — ESTIMATE. We print that number with its label because that is the honest posture; anyone stating an exact figure is guessing.
GTA 5: Los Santos (dense city), Blaine County (desert), Mount Chiliad (peak), Alamo Sea (lake), long highways connecting them.
GTA 6 (confirmed from official trailers): the Leonida coastal city, the Leonida Keys (island chain), gator-populated wetlands, and northern hill country. District names and boundaries are provisional until launch — our map labels them as such.
Fan reconstructions circulating since 2022 stitch together trailer glimpses and community guesses. Some are impressive; none are confirmed. Republishing them would mean presenting speculation as fact — so we explain them instead, and host only original artwork.
On November 19, 2026 we compare properly: in-game area measurement, region-by-region checklist coverage, and traversal times for both games. This page becomes the sourced side-by-side, and the interactive map carries the measured markers.
Honest answers
Is Leonida the same map as GTA 5’s Los Santos?
No. GTA 5 sat in San Andreas (Los Santos + Blaine County). GTA 6 is set in the state of Leonida with its own coastal city, the Leonida Keys, wetlands, and northern hills — a different, original geography.
How much bigger is the GTA 6 map than GTA 5’s?
Unconfirmed. Trailer-derived community estimates cluster around roughly 2× GTA 5’s area, marked ESTIMATE everywhere we cite it. The real ratio is measurable only after the November 19, 2026 launch.
Does GTA 6’s map have more to do than GTA 5’s?
The confirmed picture so far: a dense coastal city, an island chain, wetlands, and hills — a similar biome spread to GTA 5 but all-new places. Activity density is unknown until the game ships; we don’t rank what nobody has played.
Will ViceHints compare them properly after launch?
Yes. After launch we measure Leonida in-game and publish a sourced side-by-side: area, region count, traversal times. This page updates and the trailer-era estimates are marked superseded.
